Hi! I’m Leah Spina and I’m a mother of three young children. God bless me. Many moons ago, I married the love of my life, David (who is a far more patient parent than I). We live near Dallas, Texas where everything is bigger and better, y’all. I’m a former journalist of a national newsweekly magazine, although now I mainly read the adventures of Curious George and Clifford the Big Red Dog. My Amazon Best-Seller book Stop and Smell Your Children: Laugh and Enjoy the Little Years, encourages parents of young children to enjoy, not just endure, new parenthood by changing their parenting perspective. Caring for multiple young children while writing a book was harder than, well, potty training. (If you have not yet potty-trained your child, it’s harder than.) There’s no way you can write when a toddler is screaming at you to wipe their bottom, so I only hacked away after my children went to bed, heavily caffeinated. (So if my jokes don’t make sense, give me a break.) When I’m not smearing Desitin on a tiny rear-end, I love to sing Broadway, suntan on Italian beaches and ride horses. I’d love to meet you but it probably won’t be for another five years when my children are older. Ha! But, seriously, I wouldn’t trade this season of little ones for anything. I hope my real life parenting stories help you laugh at the chaos that is young children and enjoy your darlings. These are truly the happiest days of our life, if we have the right perspective.

I had all the time in the world, and had fun trying new ways to swirl letters. I tried to be witty and heartfelt in my LONG thank-you notes. Later, I […]

Facing Fear when you are a Christian

Facing fear. 13 weeks. That’s when I miscarried our second baby. My husband David and I had gone in for a routine OBGYN visit and ultrasound at week 10. The large black screen mounted on the wall showed a beautiful baby that was still at the bottom of my uterus. Instead of the reassuring THUD, […]

Finding out we were pregnant with baby #4!

How we found out we were pregnant with baby number four! FINDING OUT “Honey!” I whispered, shaking Dave’s sleeping form in the dark room at 6:45 am. “HONEY! I just took a pregnancy test and there is a faint line. I think I might be pregnant. But I also think I don’t know.” Dave, half-asleep, […]
